Heart Valve Surgery

bulletThere are four valves in the normal heart. These valves control the flow of blood through the chambers of the heart. Valves open and close with each beat of the heart. When one or more of these valves are damaged, the flow of blood changes. 
bulletValve Surgery -- The purpose of heart valve surgery is to improve blood flow through the heart.  Several surgery options for replacement are available including mechanical valve, animal tissue valves (bioprosthesis), or human tissue valves (homograft).
