A type of valve replacement surgery to fix the aortic valve. This surgery replaces the aortic valve with the patient's own pulmonary valve. The patients pulmonary valve is replaced with a tissue valve. The current primary benefit of this operation is in the pediatric population and in adult patients that require widening of the left ventricular outflow tract (the muscular tunnel beneath the aortic valve) by a modification of this procedure, known as a Ross-Konno procedure. |
